Background

My name is Sara Keary, PhD, LICSW (she/her/hers) and I am a have been a gerontological social worker  working with older adults and their families since 2004. My work has primarily focused on supporting families and caregivers in crisis, during inpatient geriatric psychiatric hospitalizations and hospice care. I also have experience working in palliative care settings as well as bereavement. In addition to clinical work, I am also part-time faculty at the Boston College School of Social Work, where I help prepare graduate level social work students for working with older adults and their families in a variety of settings. My research has focused on advance care planning, end-of-life care planning, and working with sexual and gender minority older adults (LGBTQIA+) regarding their experiences with accessing and using aging services.
